Hi, my name is Link.
You may wonder if I can see, I can…just not as well as most. My eyes were damaged when I was just a baby. I was so sick with an infection that the outer layer of my eyes were affected and now they have large scars. There is a surgery to fix this but it is very, very expensive. I have learned to live this way and I am doing great!
My eyes were not the only issue I had, though…my life has been a challenge to say the least.
My rescue journey started when I was found on the road as a tiny kitten. I was running in circles because I was blinded by the infection in my eyes. By the time I was scooped up off the road by a rescuer, I had lost the sight in one eye and had cataracts on the other. I startle easily due to my vision difficulties, and I may run if there is fast or unexpected movement or sound. However, in every other way I am a normal, snuggly loving cat!
I spent the first year of my life in foster care on medication after medication, trying to alleviate my chronically infected sinuses. It was discovered that I had a grape-sized polyp right above my trachea and every time I breathed, it would cover my windpipe….practically suffocating me with my own saliva and mucus. Eating was a challenge and I lost a lot of weight. Thankfully, surgery was done to remove the growth and I gained my weight back. Now I am a healthy cat with a very good appetite.
I LOVE to be picked up and will raise my front paws straight up in the air to make it easy for you to pick me up. My preferred position is draped across someone's neck and shoulders. You can call me a carrot…part cat, part parrot...because I love being on your shoulders so much!
I LOVE cuddles...all cuddles, all the time! I will jump up when you are sitting or in bed and give big head bonks and rubs before curling up on your lap for a nap. I also have a mighty purr!
I LOVE other cats and I am good with cat-respectful dogs, but most dogs move too fast for me to be completely comfortable around them.
My foster home has nickname me "Bunny-boy" because my gorgeous coat is sooooo soft, like an Angora rabbit. I also have the cutest back paws that are white and look like a bunny as I bound across the room. Do you need a pet rabbit…I mean cat in your life? Pick me! I promise to be the most cuddly, snuggly cat ever…for both you and your cats!
Link is available for adoption and would like a peaceful home, preferably with other cat-loving kitties. He is good with cat-savvy dogs, after a slow introduction/adjustment period. While he hasn't been tested with small children, given his nature, he likely would not do well around them.
