Hi my name is Jonah.
I was abandoned on a rural yard. It’s so scary to go from one life to being in a completely new area! You never know whose territory you are in…if there is a dog who will tear you apart, if there are big mean cats to chase you away! Not knowing where your next meal is coming from or where you can find safety to sleep creates a lot of anxiety. It’s a cruel way to get rid of a cat and I will have the scars ot that terrifying time forever.
I was eating from the compost bin and living under the veranda…it was the best I could do at that time. The family who lived there spotted me sneaking around they started to put food out for me. Eventually gaining my trust and took me inside. At first I was very shy and scared but I warmed up fast and after a few days I was a friendly cat once again.

I bonded with the young girl who lived there and we became great friends. I still like to bond with one special person in a home and they become my whole world 😊
I was accepted by the rescue and placed in a foster home but that’s where things went wrong for me. I had difficulty getting used to all the noise, it was not the home I had hoped for and one night the door opened and I bolted. It was a mistake! Huge huge huge mistake, and I could not find my way back in the pouring rain. I ran from the thunder…so scary and cars…with the glowing headlights…terrifying!
The rescue looked for me for 2 years. Never giving up that I was somewhere.
Yes you read that right, 2 years I lived on the streets of Altona. Snacking where I could find some handouts and sleeping in a different spot every night till I discovered a feral shelter! What a find! A warm place to sleep nestled in the straw and fresh food everyday! I still love Friskies…so yummy! The caretaker of the shelter sent a photo to Furever Friends…new cat was the caption, they replied “not a new cat it’s Jonah!” They recognized me right away! It took a bit of time for me to trust the caretaker but once I did he had no problem getting me into a kennel for another go at being an inside cat. This time I was not going to run away…no way! I love my foster homes! Bonded with people in the homes right away. We have a great time watching TV on the couch together, window hunting squirrels, and napping on the big dog beds and cat beds that are everywhere in the house!
The only thing that really sucked was having to go to the vet to get all my teeth removed. When I came back to the rescue all my teeth (the four left) were broken. They are now gone and I am pain free!
I am now ready for adoption!
I can be a bit shy at first but I warm up quick.
I am a very well behaved and independent cat.
I don’t scratch furniture or counter surf. I enjoy the occasional cuddle and LOVE being your shadow but I am not a needy cat and will respect your space…most of the time…except in the bathroom. Bathroom time is petting time!
Please put in an application for me I am a good boy with lots of love.
